NGD-1995 D 25 25th Anniv.

I just picked this one up from Sandy and it's a nice D 25. Before I continue, kudos to Sandy for being a great seller, one who communicates well, one who packs well and who makes the buying experience pleasurable. I highly recommend doing business with him and have done so several times in the past.

So, I said I wouldn't be buying more guitars (at least not at the pace I used to) unless they checked one of the key boxes for me. This one checked two. For some reason, I no longer had a D 25 and that's just unacceptable, I was looking for a nice one in decent condition that was priced right. Check, check and check. Not sure what the 25th Anniv. thing is all about. It looks like a regular D 25 to me except for the headstock. The action may be just a tad too low for me so I may replace the saddle at some point but it's not a show stopper.

Sandy takes far better pics than I so I'm attaching a link of his showing the guitar. Hope that's ok Sandy, I likely should have asked first. Pics will likely be along some time today.

I also meant to say I do have a GF 25 but felt I really needed the D 25 in the stable. I may or may not keep the GF 25 we shall see.

Always glad to hear when one gets there successfully, and FedEx Ground got it from Long Island to the hinterlands of Michigan where Rich is unscathed in two days, so props to them. The action is a tiny bit low right at the moment, but that's a seasonal thing. Here's the photos I took when it arrived. It's a nice guitar that got a bit lost in a sea of great mahogany dreads here. I still think should be called a D26, but hey, that's Guild for you!

1995 Guild D25 ”25th Anniversary”

Guild is apparently mathematically challenged. The 25th anniversary would have been 1993. Near identical to my old 1995 D26, except the headstock, and it's four serial numbers away from that guitar.

Nice addition to your collection, congrats! I'm not a huge D-25 fan, but I warmed up to the 25th Anv model (aka D-26). I think it's because it has scalloped bracing unlike the standard D-25. Enjoy!

I agree that they are substantially different (and better) than garden variety D25s. My problem Is that I love mahogany guitars, dreads in particular, and just have too many of them. I could probably sell a couple more off, but it will get harder from here figuring out which ones. And the market sucks right now anyway. Maybe when tax refund season comes!

I hope you're patient! D26s, and the 1995 version of the D25 "25th Anniversary" aren't that easy to find, but worth it when you do. The "real" 1993 D25 25th anniversary is not the same guitar. I've never tried or even seen one in the flesh, so I can't comment on them.

I'm glad to see this landed in good hands, Richard. I had thought about contacting Sandy when he mentioned he was thinking of selling this guitar--the D25 was my entry to the Guild acoustic world, and the idea of playing an "ultimate" D25 was appealing. But I decided I simply have too many guitars. I'm leaving the door cracked open for a couple of possibilities, but I decided that another arch back isn't one. It looks like a great guitar, though. May you play it in good health.
