I’m not much of an electric player, but I came across this in a local shop and couldn’t walk away. Great condition. Plays and sounds amazing. It’s my first ever Guild electric, and I am impressed. I knew they had some magic in Westerly and this just proves it. I’m no photographer, and I’m sure there are much better backdrops...but this late 70’s beauty fit too well with the wood paneled walls. She sounds great through my most recent craigslist find (late 50’s Magnatone 118 amp). The guy wanted $40 to get it out of his garage. Works perfectly and fits the new CE well. Just wanted to share my recent good luck. I read a ton here but don’t post too often. Thanks for keeping this forum up and running.

That amp was a steal! Pretty late for a CE-100. Seems like you don't see many of the midsize single cuts once you get past the sixties

I'll give you $50 for the Magnatone, make an instant 20% profit! :) That is more than a steal! The guitar looks in excellent shape, too. Congratulations on two great additions. Enjoy!

Cool score, congrats! Those CE-100s with HB-1s have their own vibe going on.

Here’s a few in the daylight. I think I’ll hold onto the amp. It’s a lot of fun. Small watt tube amp with a 12 inch speaker (and 3 inch tweeter). It may need a little tlc in the future, but it works well enough now.

Quick question....Any thoughts on strings that might compliment this one? The local shop put round wound 11-50s on her.

I think 11-50 rounds is a good place to start. I use pure nickel wrap 11-50s on mine. You can move on from there if you need a brighter string or even try flatwounds.

Big congrats. The guitar is beautiful and really looks to be in exceptional condition for an over 40 year old guitar.
The Magnatone was a crazy steal. Does it have the crazy cool Magnatone Vibrato?

Beautiful guitar. I love that old sunburst. Must be a blast to play.

Magnatone is a pretty basic student model, so unfortunately it’s only got a tone and volume (with low and high gain inputs). Thanks for the string advice. I misspoke and they currently have flatwounds on there. The burst drew me in too. It’s my birth year...I only wish I was in as good of condition for the age.

Nice Capri example in beautiful shape! Somehow, the mid-to-late 70s CE-100s and up look beefier with a slightly different body contour. I bet that it has tone for days. Enjoy!

Congratulations on getting such a beauty! That looks virtually unplayed. Nice score on the amp, too. You should think about getting it serviced, even if it’s working OK now. Tube amps need regular service to work correctly. Enjoy!

Definitely agree with the servicing. I've got the info for a guy that does great work on vintage amps. He's around 90 miles away, so I just got to get around to making the drive.
