Hi folks,

I've been playing the guitar 16 years or so. I've owned Martins, Taylors, and Larrivees over the years - nice guitars, but I have never been able to find "that sound."

So I've started looking at Guilds; I've never owned one but I have played some really nice ones. I prefer smaller body guitars as a general rule, usually 000 size or smaller. I have poked around the Guild website a little but they can be a little stingy with information. Are there any 00 size guitars in the line up? Any short scales besides the M/F20?

Thanks!

mdutr0,
Welcome to LTG! I'm a dread guy, myself, so can't help you much with small bodies. I'm sure someone will chime in soon... D

Welcome, as far as I am aware, thr F30 is the smallest American Guild currently available from the factory. If you don't mind used, then you can go smaller such as the F20 but that is a parlor size (0-size). Guild has plenty of small guitars but the F40, and F47s have a 16 inch lower bout. I believe some F30s in the past had short scales.

That would be correct, but I've only seen one like that listed in 8 months, it was a Hoboken out here in CA and they wanted a pretty penny at a store, like $1200 IIRC.
SONGBIRDS were acoustic/electrics with a shortscale, from Westerly for a short period in the '90's. Hans has said some F65's were shortscale but wasn't clear about the vintages. Westerlyguildguitars.com shows F45's as shortscale grand auditorium size, but again specs may vary by production year.

Welcome to the Guilded herd, mdutrO.
Here's a small body Guild that I've become quite fond of since she became a 6-string.

Don't limit your search to F/M20s when there are other options.

Stay in tune,

With effort and patience, and a little luck, I found a used Westerly F30 in good condition for a reasonable price. Mine is a 2001 (so it's technically a reissue, I guess, but still made in Westerly) with a short scale, and I love it. It has a repaired crack in the top, and I paid $800 for it. In very good condition they go for over a grand. They're worth it.
