Here is truly sorrowful story:

Neil Young's Peninsula Warehouse Burns By Ian S. Port, Tue., Nov. 9 2010 @ 8:24AM ?

The San Carlos warehouse Neil Young uses to store memorabilia from his more than 40-year career in music went up in flames this morning.

The fire caused an estimated $1 million in damages, according to firefighters. It's unclear yet what was damaged, but Young keeps guitars, vintage cars, paintings, and other valuables in the space.

The old warehouse, which did not have sprinklers, held at least six of Young's vintage cars. Firefighters estimate that they saved 60 to 70 percent of the contents, and haven't called the fire suspicious.

Neil's not only one of my all-time favorite artists, we share the same birthday. That sucks. He's been releasing a lot of archival stuff lately. I fear some of that might have been lost.

Doesn't sound good, did some searching and found a news post stating that fire crews reported cases and cases of musical gear and guitars were burned. A reporter had stated that among the burnt items were guitars and songs  Man, what a downer for sure :( Neil Young is the artist that most influenced me to start playing guitar.

I wonder if the warehouse had a big sign on it that read:

Neil Young's Peninsula Warehouse

???? Just wondering.

Man, that's terrible. Hopefully not too many guitars were burned up. At least no one was hurt.

Neil doesn't own a Pre War D-45. The D-45 you see him playing is from around '69 or so.

C,S,N,&Y all got their D-45's at the same time. All Brz rosewood of course.

Stills does have a Pre War D-45 and I had the opportunity to play it back in the early 80's. Fantastic instrument, just as you would expect.

Nice historical note. I remember reading about Stills' guitars now, thanks for the refresher.
