Hey all,

Here are a couple of quick pictures of my third guitar build. Specs are as follows:

OOO sized
Black walnut back and sides, curly maple binding
Black/white fiber purfling
Englemann spruce top
Sitka scalloped braces in X configuration, rosewood bridge plate
24.9" 5 piece claro walnut/maple neck from Hanelei Moon
Black pearl postion markers on the fingerboard
Black chrome Gotoh 510 tuning machines
Beautiful finish with amber burst by Joe White

Barbara was kind enough to record a few songs so everyone can get a feel for how it sounds. I'd love to have any feedback you all feel like offering. This guitar will be for sale soon, I need to use it for promotional purposes for a little while.

Thanks, as always, for looking.

Chris.

Looks fabulous, Chris ! :D :D
There's just something about walnut and maple together.
I love building with those two woods.
I used them on my son's bed headboard.

Sounds great too !!
Classic walnut sound.

But there's no G shield on the headstock.

You need a pearl inlay on the peghead there. Something more understated than a tree-of-life, but classier than, say, a Scooby Doo sticker.

A nice crescent moon, maybe?

A lesson in the virtues of "less is more" ......... very elegant understatement Chris.

Although, I do concur with Default. A tasteful headstock inlay in pearl would look great.

And the Maple binding does look great with Walnut.

Nicely "illustrated" by Barbara ...... thank you.

Wow, that is crazy beautiful. Good job. Building guitars must be one of the most rewarding things to do. Love the maple binding and the sunburst is brilliant.

Headstock inlays are overated. If a guitar is this good, let the audience wonder. Make people want to find out who made it by sound and looks.

Chris,
I have to revisit this thread and tell you that you and Barbara are one dynamic duo!
Your craftsmanship is a feast for the eyes and her playing a feast for the ears.
A very impressive joint effort.

Thanks for sharing this delightful combination! :D

Thanks everyone, we appreciate it. The goal on this one was understatement, hence no peghead inlay. I wanted the different woods to be the stars of the show. We record in my auto workshop, which has great acoustics. Barbara used her Mac running GarageBand, input from our new USB condenser mic.

The next one is going to have more bling, quilted mahogany with some blue paua bling.

Chris.

I admit that it's my own bias, but I'd still rather see something there. It's the Guild influence, I feel like the veneer came off the headstock.

Second that, but I gotta agree with those who'd like a headstock logo. It's like the artist's signature. I think it'd be more effective if I could remember "I gotta look THAT guy up" instead of "Wow I gotta start by finding out who it is..."
AS for keeping the understated elagance, I agree, maybe a wood inlay instead of pearl?
