Our fellow LTG brother WileyPickett came through big time! He sent her my way today and UPS has a scheduled delivery on Thursday according to their tracking. It sure looks a lot better than the guy seller described it and I still have to test out all the electronics but figured it couldn't hurt to post the pictured Glenn sent me of it after he picked it up. Thanks again to the enabler of the month, Glenn aka WileyPickett!!

Aw shuckens!

The four-hour drive to western Massachusetts and back wasn't so bad, it was the one+ hour wait in the cold, in a Mobil station parking lot, after we got out there!

But I think David got a fine deal for himself -- and now I have someone I can call on if any 12-string acoustics turn up in North Carolina!

Let us know what you think once it arrives --

Cheers!

Well anytime you need my enabling services, you just let me know my friend!

Think I found a period correct master volume knob to replace the large black knob that is on it now! I know it is better for ease of using the Master volume, but that thing is wild looking!

Will do!

That is a beautilicious guitar, but I have to ask ... are my Lasik-enhanced eyes deceiving me, or is that master volume knob abnormally large?

Definitely bigger than the one on some recent M-75 examples

Good eye, Thunderface!

You're right, the master volume knob (and the nut, I suspect, which appears to have been upgraded to carbon?) is not stock.

The guy we got the guitar from used the master volume knob A LOT while he played, using his pinkie to do volume swells and such, so much so that it began flying off in mid-set. (He told us.)

So he replaced it with the big knurled knob you see here, the kind you can tighten against the shaft with a screw.

I have to say, it may not be original, but it sure works great.

Thanks for the info, Glenn. I figured it was done for performance purposes, and you certainly wouldn't want the knob flying off mid-gig. Glad to know I wasn't just imagining things. That is one sweet looking 'bird. That was some fine legwork you did.

It does look kind funny but definitely appropriate if you use the master vol a lot. I am am looking for a period correct one as I type but might just change it out with a different Guild master volume knob. I am thinking the replacement nut might be TUSQ.

Gotta love it when your luthiers first words after plugging in your guitar and playing it for 5 seconds are "DUDE, the pickups in this thing this thing sounds awesome!" followed by "how do you find such good deals on vintage guitars?". You just gotta smile and tell him, "Guild Guitars: Made to be Played!".

Everything with the M75 checked out with flying colors. Other than the obvious master volume and nut being changed, he said the only other repairs were the frets having been dressed at one point (but plenty of life left) and the binding on the neck had been reglued, both repairs he said had been really well done.

I cant get over how light this thing is. I know it likely isnt chambered but it is definitely lighter than I expected and not much heavier than the Blues 90.

Al-right David!

Got your message on my voicemail when I got home (from seeing the legendary Bert Jansch in concert -- outstanding!) and was delighted to hear your very excited message!

Sorry I didn't catch the repair to the frets and neck binding, but I'm relieved to hear they were done professionally, and that the guitar is everything you were hoping for (and then some, it sounds like).

Another Guild story with a happy ending!

Cheers!

No worries on the repairs, i dont have an eye to notice these things so I always take it to my luthier first thing and he has an eye for details I would never see. Once if gets a nice setup it will be all ready to go. Thinking about adding a strap button to the end as well since the stock one isnt far enough out to put a strap on it.

I bet the Bert Jansch show was super. Thanks again Glenn!

Definitely another Guild story with a happy ending!

Wait - you drove 4 hours to western MA to pick this up? Damn - I live in that area and would have been glad to do the favor if I'd known (any excuse to check out a guitar).

Was it a private seller or a local shop? In any event, it looks great. Have fun.

As one gets older, the master volume control must get larger. Either that or the volume that the control puts out is relative to size...but ours go to 11 kind of thing.

Nice get on the bird!
