Question: Does your participation on this forum affect how much/often you play? I find that coming here actually leads me to play more. Not infrequently some posts, for various reasons, just make me want to pick up a guitar (most often one of my Guilds) and play. Just curious.

Not for me. I always have a guitar on a stand and I just play when I feel like it. Often, it's hearing a certain song that will lead me to playing more than usual.

The LTG is not about playing guitar for me. lol

I just really enjoy anything Guild Westerly Rhode Island acoustics. So I like to read more and more about them. I play daily anyway...

I also like the camaraderie here, some folks I have known for over a decade and enjoy keeping up on their progress. I find the LTG encouraging.

Besides, what really would you guys do without my string and Br posts?

If I am here for any length of time, it is usually at times of the day when I would not be playing anyway.

Other visits tend to be of a momentary nature, often in response to notifications of replies to watched threads.

At the moment, I am in one of my ADHD phases, which makes focused practice difficult. But I do have beater guitars at various places in the house, gracing walls and furniture, and I do (often but not always) spend as much time with them in a day as I do here. I also sat down at the piano yesterday to do some voice exercises.

I must confess that I often ignore too much of other peoples' contributions. There are just so many interesting rabbit holes presented here that I could, if I let myself, spend all day here and get nothing else done. It is a dangerous and addictive place.

Since injuring my hand a while back, it's hard to fret well or for very long. I'm doing stretches and motion stuff and hopefully this will help. So for the time being, this is my place. There are times when I might be playing and I can only do one thing at a time. That might limit participation here, but LTG does not stop me from playing. They're very different things.

Same for me. Keep one guitar on the stand all time. Usually "play" about three times a day - five or six old songs I grew up with in church or old country.
I don't have to be in "the mood" to play. If I, only, did things when I felt like it - I wouldn't get much accomplished.

I visit LTG when I want to avoid work.

It hasn't necessarily made me play more, but it certainly has made me buy more!

You may lose time from playing, your significant other might thank you. Leverage this to your advantage "I could be playing instead" ;[]

But the upside is that you will learn so much about guitars and players that it more than makes up for it.

The more you know.
