As a teenager, and long befrore I knew who he was, I used to see Moondog (in full Viking regalia) on the street near the Museum of Modern Art in NYC.

I discovred his music -- some of which I quite like -- later.

I met Moondog, a couple times, in NYC. Drove a taxi for several years in the early 70s. Moondog had pals everywhere. He'd stand on the street somewhere in the village. When it was time to go home, a friend would flag down a cab. A couple times it was my cab. He was a very cool guy, one of the most interesting fares ever. A fascinating man to talk with.

I see you're in Montclair, NJ. I grew up in northern Jersey (Waldwick, Bergen County) and took that Shortline bus into the city many times before I got my first car.
