As many of you know, I care much more about how I look on stage rather than how I sound. So I was happy to find a strap to complete a "harlequin pair".

Mellow, that's the Steinberger that sent its innards to you.

Verrrrrry nice, Herr Doktor Happy.

Speaking of looking sharp, I grabbed a set of LaBella medium scale 60-115 black nylon tapes to try on the M-85. They sure do look snazzy on this bass - even the sky-blue silks match the Acoustic 370 amp! That said, I loved the white nylon tapes of the same gauges on this bass, so I wanted to A/B the sets. So far so good... difficult to say which sound better, but these are a tad warmer sounding and a little bit lower tension. So far I dig them enough to leave them on, but will keep the white tapes around just in case I want to swap back at some point... or maybe the real solution here is adopting another vintage M-85 bass so I can have one with each set ready to go? 🤪

Agreed on the silks. Those green silks on the TI Jazz Rounds always annoyed me, but sometimes one must sacrifice appearance for function, eh?

Love that 370. The 360 was a liberation amp for us under-powered bass players in the late 60s. Much better sounding than those Kustom amps.

Oh, Herr Mellow, did you recognize the little amp on top of the Showman head? It's a TAURUS Vandal. (A prototype.)

A German amp made in Poland! Uniting two great countries!

That old Sunn bin is looking pretty damn cool too! I've owned a 200S since I was in high school, but have never owned the matching bin.
Hey Double Dog, I think you saw it when you visited here some years back. It's a Sunn Colesium cab reloaded with four 75 watt Celestion 12" speakers. Enough capacity to handle the Showman or a 2000s.

In the day I believed that one of those atop a 1x18" cab was sonic heaven. Better with two stacks, right Haroldo?

I waved in a primo 200S ten years ago when I was gigging a lot more. I figured a Sunn cab with a single 15" JBL would be a perfect and compact match, but one never came up for sale while owned the 200s.

Through the fogs of time I recall some of us trying to mod the stereo amps the Sunns were based on in an effort to save money. Dynacos? We were building Heathkit and Lafayette kits back then. Radios and then amps.
