Hi Craig: then you don't want this one. Apart from the stress fractures on the lower bass bout, instead of getting the neck reset and the bridge re-fastened, somebody shaved the bridge and ...  put screws through it. But ... the seller says it's a $2,000 guitar thus a steal at $1,295 ... it's a steal at $300 :p

I'd like to...but I don't play steal guitar....  Steffan

Steal guitar is also illegal in a number of states: Altered, Solid, Confused, Dilapidated ... and others ...

I'm not seeing he screws in the bridge from the pictures. I sure hate seeing an old guitar like this butchered with a Baggs box. If one feels the need for a box, buy or put it on a Taylor. But then, I don't plug in very often. Dave

Hi Dave; seller sez: "THE BRIDGE HAS BEEN SHAVED DOWN AND THERE ARE 2 SCREWS IN IT AS WELL ". On the treble side:

It looks as though this ebay F212 is at least still up and running. Albeit a bargain at right about 1/4 the price.

Like I say, what I am waiting for is one that is equally over-priced, but on account of its great original condition, and playability. Meanwhile I'll just have to pass on all these current opportunities.

Also are those chrome Waverly tuners on these F212 rigs? Whatever they are in appearnace theyare just right for these guitars.

Hi Craig; you'd have to check Hans Moust's book but no, those tuners are not Waverlys ... the chrome 6-on-a-side strips are original, they do look good, but are from a couple of different sources.

Brad- it was your lucky day that you were $100 short to get the F212. Did you get it used? -Craig
No, got it new in 1965, actually, my mother bought it, and she might have gone the extra $100 but I didn't want to push my luck. My father wouldn't have approved...

Your mom was cool :D Steffan

Hi Craig; the types of original strip tuners on '60s F212s are discussed in this LTG thread. The pretty chrome strip tuners with the incised details are Japanese. It's unfortunate but most well-played '60s F212s have well-worn tuners and there are no dupes in the after-market. If they need to be replaced, Grover minis are the way to go.

Hi John, I replaced the tuners on my old 112 with Ping. they are the strip tuners and everything lines up. The only real difference is that the original screws to hold it on are slightly larger than the Ping screws, which would be a little loose...so using the Guild screws on the Ping tuners...everything fits, even the screw holes, and they are pretty smooth too. :) Steffan

Not exactly sure which model Pings you used; they have models with incised edge backing plates and either chrome or plastic knobs. Are these the ones you used? Agree they are similar but not dupes; different backing plate and button shape ... and they weren't around when I was looking at replacements but, having put the Grovers on and felt the love, I wouldn't have replaced the Grovers with anything but genuine new old stock. I mean the only thing I would have given up the ease and accuracy of the Grovers for would have been complete authenticity.

Don't have the guitar handy right now John but the buttons were chrome, oval and a little larger than the old Guild ones...cost around $25. Steffan

They are smooth and hold tune fine John...made by Ping, as in the same company that makes Ping golf clubs..the buttons just seem a little more crowded cause they are bigger....Steffan

Hi Tim,
Where is the Coffee House? We're in Plymouth, I also have an old F212, and would enjoy seeing you folks play!
