Got my 1978 Guild Mark II back from the repair shop- we took the old fishman matrix undersaddle pickup out- restored the saddle to the original height by gluing a piece of bone on the old saddle- and installed a K&K classical pickup.

The K&K classical is like to pure western mini, but has 4 heads instead of three. Thanks to LTG I found out about K&K.

Sounds much better 1) by not having the UST between the saddle and the guitar bridge wood improved the tone and definition in a good subtle way.
2) the K&K brings out the wood sound of the guitar- in this case mahogany- very well MUCH better the the fishman that sounded sterile.

My repairman, who has been doing repairs for years, in a major city, was impressed with the K&K and how it sounded in my guitar, and other installations he has done. Without the battery and active electronics, he feels, it sound better than the active pickups.

Not to blow K&K's horn here, but IMO they work! Maybe if I played large shows, I would want a UST, because of feedback, but since that is not a likely future prospect, these K&K's are great. I wanted to share this because it's nice when you find something that works! Hope this helps you classical fans!

if anyone wants to post Classical string reviews I'm all ears!

...the K&K...

I have a K&K Trinity thing-a-ma-jig in my gigging (steel string) guitar. I like it.

Like steel strings, it's subjective and YMMV and all that... but I like the D'Addario Pro-Arte Hard Tension nylon strings. I buy a set and toss the 3rd (G) string which I replace with a Galli carbon string. ("but why, Frosty?") The diameter of the Galli carbon is less than that of the D'Addario nylon (a plus, I think), the response is quicker (another +) and to my ear the tone of the Galli is clearer.
("oh.")

The Savarez Alliance set is nice too.
