Had a blast at the Reel Cafe last night! 22 muscians each played 2 JP songs to celebrate John's birthday. I did "Six O'clock News" and "Oldest Baby In The World". The D55 looked a lot better than I did! Lots of great music!

Great shot of the Guild and the player, and it sounds like a fun celebration. I like the idea of two songs per player.
Any duplicate choices? Just curious.

Big JP fan here, so thanks for sharing,

Yeah, big John Prine fan here, too Joe!! No, we all had to work it out ahead of time so that no song was done twice! Not too hard with all the great tunes to pick from! Probably the highlight of the evening was hearing "Iron Ore Betty"! Man, it was a blast! Wish you could have been there!!

I have my Pandora radio tuned to a John Prine channel and I'm hearing a lot of great music and even some 'newer' JP.
He still 'tells a story' better than anybody.

Think I'll pull down a Guild and sing two or four.

Did you or anyone record any of the performance(s)? That would be a wonderful show to watch.

(Great photo, by the way)

Christopher,

Unfortunately, no as far as I know. My wife did get some video of my songs on her cell phone. Friend me on fb to see them but nothing to write home about!!! Yeah, a DVD of the whole night would have been great!!! Wilmington has some great musicians!! "Long Monday" was incredible!

I think a number of clubs through out the country have "JP Birthday" open mike nights. Wonderful idea.

Wow, that D-55 sure looks good on stage! Since your not using a strap, does your D-55 not have a strap button on the upper bout? I can't stand the thought of drilling a hole in the neck for a button on mine. Nope, not gonna do it
