I pulled out my early 90’s JF-30 this weekend. It’s getting new strings and a Baggs pickup today. Still has the gigantic Guild sound.

Yes indeed! Love my ‘94, with it’s highly flamed maple body & deeply resonant tone. For quite some time now, I’ve felt that the JF-30 has remained one of the best values out there in the used marketplace.

It really is a fine model and a great deal IMHO. I've owned a few but none at the present time. If I can fin a good deal on a natural JF 30 in great shape I'll likely go for it. It seems like I used to see a lot of used ones for sale in the past but I don't see all that many now.

I’ve played a JF-30 a few years ago and agree. Great Guilds!

I like mine a lot more since putting Bluegrass gauge D'Addarios on it.

My first Guild! JF30 of the 12-string variety. I had a planned trip to L.A. area from Salt Lake to visit family; made a side trip through the city of Corona to Dana Point to make this craigslist purchase. Still ecstatic with this beauty!

My first Guild was a Westerly JF30 12-string. A few years later I picked up the six-string version, and in like-new condition.

A lot of guitars have come and gone over the years, but I still have both these. They never disappoint.

Cougar, SLC to Dana Point is quite a trek, but there are lots of destinations that are worse. Having family in Mission Viejo north and Cardiff By The Sea, south of there, Don and I have spent quite a lot of time there. He's had some hospital doctor functions there as well so, if you have to buy a guitar somewhere...... I think Dana Point is as good a place as any, and better than a whole lot!!!

I should buy one. i think dreads are getting sort of tame for me.
my one hesitation is the right shoulder. Would it cause further strain...?

Funny...I'm heading in the opposite direction. Loving the smaller bodies all of a sudden.

That being said, not sure I'd ever sell my JF-30-12...or D-40.

Yes, lots of love for the JF30 in this house too! I have a 92 in natural and a Corona-built 03 in black. Neither of which I would say are “boomy”, or a “cannon”, they are just great playing, great sounding guitars! In fact, my little 5’5” g/f has bonded with the 92, and now claims it’s HER guitar! Ha, I say...

Tell ya what...if you get a chance to play an arched back F-20....no it ain't a D-25 but it has a surprising amount of volume..

(Sorry for the hijack).

My shoulder is why I have an F-30, and sold a big dread. But no regrets, love the size and comfort of the smaller guitar.

Now, an F-20, that would be small!

I recently purchased what turned out to be an '01 (last of the Westerly's) JF30 NT on Reverb. It really sings and has a big, bright tone. Had to take it back to my luthier to completely re-glue the bridge and have it set up (saddle's never been touched). Should have it back in a week or so and can't wait!
