Sorry guys - only SG-shaped guitar I've ever been interested in. Nice chunky 1 11/16" neck, sexy 'hog, and P90 goodness! :)

Not to soil my stalwart reputation, but I came seriously close to buying the same guitar recently. There was one here on CL and the price kept dropping. Seriously tempting.

What year is that one? I used to have a '65 Special, but, being a dumb kid, sold it cuz the headstock was snapped. *facepalm* This is what I filled it's spot with, though...not too shabby, although the neck is quite a bit chunkier and I still love the smaller pickguard more.

That is a whole lotta P-90 goodness right there. Perfect for getting your Woodstock-era Pete Townsend playing "Sparks" on. Now if only that one had more rounded, slightly off-set horns. :D

Looks like Iommi's original SG he played on Black Sabbath and Paranoid. As a matter of fact, it looks identical with the binding dot inlays and P90's. I think these were special editions, at least that's how Long and Mcquade advertised them up here in Canada earlier this summer.

There's the VOS:

And the Guitar of the Week:

And Tony's "Monkey" '65 Special...heavily modded:

And, to be fair, it looks nothing like what Iommi started recording the first Sabb album with...

Yeah it's a Guitar of the week. 2008 I think. I'm too lazy this AM to look. :)

Better than a Classic because it has a better neck, pickups are wider apart, nickel parts, better wood, better guard, etc.

I like it better than the VOS because it has the bridge. I'm not a fan of the wraparound tailpieces under my hand.

+1 I don't mind the feel under my hand...it's the lack of intonation adjustment that bugs me.

Man this thing is nice. I recently scored a mid-90s Les Paul Special single cut in an effort to get my P90-slab-o-hog thing on, and this SG just crushes it. The LP has P100s in it though, so that's not terribly surprising. The SG though is so much lighter. The LP seems to weigh about 200 lbs since it's so thick.

We'll see if some boutique P90s can liven up the LP. :)

It was that very body shape/P-90 combination -- along with the tremolo -- that led me to buy on of these off clearance from Musiciansfriend.com, a Hagstrom F-200P. I liked it, but would up selling it a friend, who absolutely loves it.

Nice. I like that, but I'm not fond of the pick guard.

So I updated the Les Paul special. It's now got Sheptone P90s and RS 500k pots, which have made it a MUCH better sounding guitar. Still doesn't touch the stock SG though. MAN that SG just kills. It's got that bright harmonic overtone thing going on that just makes me giggle like a little girl when I play it. The LP is darker, and growls nicely now, but the SG spanks it. :)
