Hello Guild experts. I have done a bit of research and it seems like the serial number and Hoboken location suggest that this is a 1965. It has a crack in the body next to the pic guard and a crack in the bridge. I do not think these are structural problems. There are also some a lot of pic marks. This was my first guitar, 20 years ago, and I played it hard. I installed an internal pickup that could be removed to return it to its collectible state. The finish is the sunburst which seems unique and it is a vintage guitar. I wonder what this is worth, with or without the pickup. I really appreciate any and all input. I will include many pictures to help figure this thing out. The serial # is OA 120. HOW DO I POST PICS? I can't attach or drag them in so...?

Whit,

You will need to upload pictures of your '65 F112 on to http://www.photobucket.com and this will provide you with a direct link that you can upload to the LTG Forum. The direct link will need to be inserted on the forum between two of these . I know everyone has got a really bad case of GAS waiting see pics of your ax so, hurry up and get those pics up.

Hans Moust's "Guild Book," sometimes referred to here as the Bible, says the F-112 was introduced in 1968. As to value today, I'll check in my Blue Book when I have the chance, probably later today.

Hi Whit: although not necessarily the most accurate, this source dates your guitar to 1968. Welcome and looking forward to pictures.

Ok so I got links to the photos. I tried to photograph any problems that the guitar has such as a crack and scratches. Can anyone tell me what this is worth? Does anyone want to buy this guitar. I live in Virginia. I just don't play it the way I used to. I play mostly electric these days. Anybody have a fender lap steel with legs that they want to trade for this guitar? If no one is interested in it what should I ask on ebay?

Blue Book of Acoustic Guitars, 11th edition (p. 301) suggests F-112 1968-69, $750-850 in Average condition, $1100-1400 in excellent condition. If the cracks you describe are not structural, they probably won't affect the value except to put it at the lower end of the average scale. The 2009 Vintage Guitar Price Guide (p. 149) lists $1100-1250 for excellent condition, no info on other conditions. IMO, whether or not the pickup affects the price up or down depends on what type it is and how it was installed. The sunburst might add a few dollars as well, not sure on that.

Thank you for you time. I'll ask 750 I guess.

Give yourself some wiggle room, if you ask $750, the buyer will probably want to bargain, using the scratches and marks as ammunition. Start at $850. This is all assuming that the guitar still plays fine and sounds like a Guild 12 should.

That is good thinking. I actually just posted the guitar for 800 but will try not to move too much. And it does sound like it should. Thanks Again
