Hi. New to the forum, collecting guild anything for a few years. I recently added a pair of pa/vocal columns made somewhere in '73-4 range judging by the date codes on the speakers. They're similar to Earth, Kustom and like 4x10 or 4x12 columns of the time, only these are top to bottom horn w/filter cap, 12, 8, 8, 12, w/spkrs all in series. Becker spkrs. No guild model tags that I could find nor info online. Any info on when/for how long these were made or any specs? I'm putting an axe fx thru a mesa 20/20 into them and they are super warm and clean. Sound like the 70's. :)

Thanks!
Mark

Welcome. I suspect Kurt is the person most likely to have useful information for you. Browse his site (URL above) while you are waiting...

Thanks all for the quick replies. Email is in to Kurt. Stellar collection he's got! I am now having thoughts about popping a pair of jbl 15's into a 68 tbird cab i got off CL last year for $60 (he didn't have the head) & adding a xover 2 the rack to see what that does for the low end (esp. when using pitch shift), making a fairly modern 2.1 FR guitar sytem with very retro speakers. This rig keeps getting bigger every month - GAS rig.

Peace, Mark

"Here I am to save the day!"

Well, unfortunately I really don't have a lot of info but I thought I'd post what I did find here instead of repling to the e-mail so everyone could share.

I have a magazine ad showing your columns;

Then I found they first appear in the January 1973 Price Catalog;

Here's a closer look;

As you can see they're Model CS-228H's

They were still listed in the November 1974 Price Catalog. Then all the PA stuff disappeared by 1975.

That's all I have on them.

Although, I do have a PA-300 Mixer/Amp pictured in the ad;

Maybe we need to get them together sometime! :lol:

Kurt, u r the man! Thanks so much. I was wondering what the accompaniment was - I was expecting a powered head, but the mini-mixer makes sense. You didn't pick that up in western NY by chance? I got the spkrs from an antique shop in Afton (near Binghamton). Can't help but wonder since there can't be that many of these out there... At least now I know the power rating and to keep them away from the big amps.

Thanks again! On to the next Guild quest... Theres a burnside on ebay w/bo. Hmmmm
