The question was asked, in another post, if there had been a GUILD 10th ANNIVERSARY MODEL?

If there had been a 10th Year Anniversary Model, what do you think the model would have been ? I suppose 1963 would have been the year, right ? The F-30, F-40 and F50 Flat Tops had been around since 1954 and the F-20 had been around since 1956. The M-20 had been around since 1958. The M-30 looks to have been produced from 1959 - 1962 and then discontinued. The Mark Series Classicals had just been introduced in 1962. I would guess the F-212 and F-312 were too new, to be considered. Or maybe it was one of the many Arched-Top Electrics that were made, over the past 10 years.

So, which Model would have made the best 10 Anniversary Model in 1963 ? Your guess is as good as mine !

Great new thread Tim........I started the original thread to get some information so I could stalk for birthyear guitar .
Shhh ,down ,quiet I think I see one around the corner.
Where?
Over there in the window,of the shop
What shop?
That shop ,the one with the guitar sign on it,! Shhh quiet. You'll spook it!
Where I don't see it ?.
Here have the binoculars,up to the left, it's a 63
Where ah there No that looks more like a, a......,its a 58
No,way are you blind, its a 63 look at the headstock!
Hey someone is near it,they are pulling it down!
Let me see ,let me see?
Ya ,they got it alright, by the neck
Looks like he's gonna pay for it
he is he is !
With that the guy pays for it without even playing, opens the door and walks out the door.Music shop is happy, the new owner is happy. And we are left without nothing what the guitar in the worn black guild case was
I thought to myself as we walked off.....another great stalk ,the one that got away, but we will never know what it was that was in that case.......

70 ah ahahahah

Ok, 70man, let's get this started .... My best guess is going to be that Mr. Dronge would have decided to make the NEW F-212, the 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY MODEL .... afterall, it was the first acoustic flat top 12 String to be produced, by Guild and it's a great acoustic guitar .... Ok, so I am a bit prejudice .... I just love my 1967 Guild F-212 !!!!

In '62/'63, I think Guild would've done an anniversary edition of a hollow-body. But, with the rise of folk music, the possibility of a special flattop is there too. Maybe a special F-50. It wouldn't've been a 12-string, though. Not that early.

For reasons that are hard for me to articulate, I sense that what Guild was most proud of in 1963 were their electric archtops and similar jazz boxes. So if the 10th anniversary guitar was about acknowledging the past I would expect one of those. 1963 seems a little early to actually recognize that the future was folk music and acoustics, IMO. Interesting question to speculate about, especially since everyone's opinion is equally valid.

W-e-e-e-l-l-l...speaking of special flat-tops.. the D40 was introduced in '63.....don't remember when the D50 was ... but I seem to recall that the D40 was their first dreadnaught?
But I'm with you, I'm thinking yes, if it was to be done on an existing model they would have gone top-of-the-line and done either an F50 or an Artist Award.
