I know many if not most of you already have pickups in your Guilds. Well, the only ones I ever had were the Barcus Barry hot dots in my first D55 which were pretty crappy so I didn't bother getting them in my replacements. I've always miked my guitars on stage and in the studio. But I finally came to the realization that I've just got to have one guitar with a pickup if I want to be able to play some of the local venues. These are not the quite folk clubs of yesteryear. So I talked to a lot of local players, did some research, and decided to get an L.R. Baggs M1. I just had it installed yesterday and it is amazing! I know a lot of players prefer a pickup you can't see but this sound really works for me. joan

Nice going Joan!

I put a K&K in one of my guitars and felt pretty darn good about it.

I put an LR Baggs Element in my D50 and love it. The whole piezo sound takes a bit of getting used to in a live situation, but it eventually sinks in.

Nice, Joan. What kind of amp do you play through?

I have LR Baggs in both my Guilds, they sound sweet thru my Crate CA-125D, the combination reproduces the acoustic sound very nicely!

Nicely done!! I've insattled a bunch in various guitars over the years. LR Baggs is a good system. My fave however, is the K&K.

amp? I KNEW there was something else I needed to get at the store! Actually at this point I'm just wanting to have something to plug into systems at some of the places I play but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have an amp here at the house...learning never ends. I'll check out the possibilities, John (owner of my local guitar store where we jam every Sat) suggested one but honestly I don't even remember what it was...I'm also thinking I can now record directly into Garage Band for the guitar track (I've been miking both vocal and guitar on one mike)...joan

Tha Baggs should be great... they sound particularly nice when you have a good sound-person who can take it directly to the board AND mike the guitar like you did before and blend the two signals.

The beauty of a small amp is that you can split the signal from the Baggs (one line to board/one to amp) and use the amp as a monitor so you can finally hear yourself very well. Another option (instead of line to board) is to run the Baggs to a small amp (pointed at you) and mike the amp.

And you'll have TONS of fun with Garage Band!
