I have pics of my restored D40 on my computer desktop, can't figure out how to post them here. Would appreciate any help. Using a MAC, BTW.

Thanks, Wontox

Short answer is you upload them to a photo sharing site (for example, Picasa or PhotoBucket) and then link to them in your post. Someone will be along to find the more detailed instructions and link to those for you.

Thanks for your reply.

Okay, went to Picasa, the wanted me to create a google acount first, went to create that, they wouldn't accept any password at all, this is entirely too much BS, there's got to be a better way. Why can't the pics just be copied and pasted or sent by email to this template?

If you just want to upload and don't plan on reusing the pics, the fastest service is imgur.com. Just store the update/delete URL on a separate excel or word sheet. Then just copy the regular URL they generate and stick it in the Img tags (push the Img button and they'll appear). For example, I get this URL: http://i.imgur.com/00aPV.jpg from imgur, and paste it in the tags. This pic is a good size (348x500 pixels). If you click "quote" you can see how I put the URL in the tags.

Thanks for your reply,

Went to Imgur, was easily able to create an acount but none of the buttons (upload, etc.) on the templates would activate anything...my computer is fairly sophisticated and updated, don't know what's making this all so tough.

If anyone would be so kind, I'll merely email the photos to them and perhaps they could post them for me. I don't have a problem giving my email at this site: wils720@aol.com.

Thanks, Wontox

Let me take a crack at this. I'm pretty much a ludite so if I can figure it out anyone can.

First you do need a hosting service.
If you use photobucket.com, and I'm assuming most all other hosting services, once you upload the pic to photobucket you will have four options to share the pic. These are listed on photobucket as
E-mail and IM
Direct Link
HTML code
IMG Code

IMG code is the one you want. Simply highlight that code and copy it. Then paste it into the message you are preparing to post on Lets Talk Guild. Then hit preview to see if you've boned up. If not, hit submit.

Thanks Evenkeel,

Was able to easily access Photobucket, but there was no instruction on how to upload...it just says upload but doesn't explain how or where to actually upload your pic...anywhere I looked. Tried copying and pasting, labeling and attaching; doesn't work...the site must have heard my four-letter muttering because it then kicked me off the internet. Speaking of Luddites, I'm obviously one but usually I can navigate around pretty well. My wife, who's pretty computer literate can't get this to work on her machine either. Gonna stop whining and call it quits for a while, go play my Guild, but thanks for all the responses.

Photobucket is a good site to use and pretty user friendly. It sounds like you're making things more complicated than they are. ;)

When you set up a Photobucket account and log in you will see a button to click to upload pictures. Once you click that you should see a box that will allow you to browse files on your computer to find the one(s) you want to upload. Once you've selected the picture you want to host you will see a progress bar as the file is being uploaded and then a screen where you have editing options, such as adding a caption. Simply click on the picture itself and you will be presented with a view of the image you uploaded along with some options to the left of it for how you would like to link that picture to other websites such as LTG. The simplest one is the last option, which is the URL of your picture on the Photobucket site surrounded by "IMG" brackets. If you right-click on that line you can copy and paste the link into your LTG posts and voila! we all see your geetar pr0n.

Now, another note about Photobucket:

Within your Photobucket account you can organize your photos into different folders that you create. One of the links is called "Add Folder" and once you click that you can give it a name. Create as many folders as you like - and if you hang around here awhile and suffer from the same GAS-pangs as the rest of us you'll end up with endless folders (one for each of your Guild children). ;) Until you set up other folders within your Photobucket account to organize your pictures, everything you upload will go into your "Default Folder."

Hope this helps.

Now - to sound like a post over at TGP - let's see those Guilds!

In the end this is - of course - the best solution!

Short answer is that it costs Don, who foots the bill for LTG, resources to store pictures at LTG. Uploading them directly here takes bandwidth and then every time they are displayed it takes bandwidth. If LTG uses too much bandwidth then the site either becomes unavailable until the end of the month or Don gets asked to update to a more expensive hosting package.

Storing a picture at another site does not have any effect on LTG's bandwidth.
