It's made in 2000 and the bottom of the pickup says "Guild"

Hey cdiaz,

They are what I told you they would be!

Please help me date my new Starfire 4. And any other info on it would great too. S/N: AG001549.

Your Guild Starfire 4 with serial # AG001549 is from the year 2000. According to what I have on file, it should be a blonde finished guitar with a flame maple body, a 3-pc. mahogany w. maple centerstrip neck and 2 Fender-designed humbucking pickups.

I would like to add that this pickup has solder tabs on the back of the pickup, which makes it simple to add a coil tap or install somethink like a parallel/series switch.

Sincerely,

Three holes for the height adjustments screws on each side.

BTW, I was going to suggest clicking the "IMG" tab above the box where you type your posts and inserting the URL for your picture between the brackets so the picture will show up here, but I tried it and it didn't work. Might be the site you're using. Photobucket and Imageshack work well.

You might get along a little better here if you participated a bit more than just having us determine the age and/or type of new or potentially new guitars. We're starting to feel used. :)

Also, if you didn't know, Hans literally wrote the book on Guild guitars. Link: http://www.amazon.com/Guild-Guitar-Book ... 0634009664 He knows what he's talking about. :)

We're all happy to help, but please consider participating in the community instead of just grilling us for information.

It is my understanding that "Fender" HB-1's came with the Guild name on the later guitars that came out of Westerly. After the Westerly plant shut down and production moved to Corona they began to get the Fender stamp into the back of the pickup.

I usually identify the pickups by the way they look on the back because the bobbins have solder posts for the in and out of each bobbin.

I understand. But you have to understand, I'm brand new to Guilds. So I really have no insight to contribute

We were all new to Guilds and the forum at some point, and one could argue that people who have been around awhile have nothing to contribute. Somehow we still come up with a lot to say.

Welcome aboard.
