I have a good memory of his greatest hits album. I was dating a woman for a while, and she housesat for like a month. I would go visit her at this cool house in Newport, RI, and they had this Van Morrison greatest hits album and we would play it on the phono and was just a very relaxing time/memory.

Not concerned with any part of his anatomy but I love Van Morrison, Moondance in particular, all the times I heard it. All the girls I was interested in back when I discovered them would have been listening to that, Cat Stevens, etc. Definitely a romantic era.

Great song.

Back in the mid-90s I met the guy who played horns on Van's Moondance album . . . he was playing in a swing band at that time.

I know VM had stage fright, but was he also known as a jerk?

I was lucky enough to see him many years ago and he was fantastic. Yes, he does have horrible stage fright, but he pushed through and delivered a great performance .

I love all of Them's stuff! (I know, it sounds ungrammitical.)
Always thought their version of It's All Over Now Baby Blue was brilliantly done, and Baby Please Don't Go is something I still put on frequently for a spin. Don't know exactly why, but I never cared for Brown Eyed Girl. However, Moondance & Tupelo Honey were again first-rate, and Domino is a song I always look forward to hearing.

So I've appreciated Morrison's work since the very beginning, but have to say, I saw him live at a small venue in the early '70s, and he did indeed come off as a complete A-hole. He gave the distinct impression that he thought he was God's gift to the universe, mumbled everything into the microphone, was rude to the audience, and I would imagine was either drunk or stoned. Maybe just a bad night, but it was really kind of ugly.

Wow, interesting. When I saw him I think early-mid 90’s he was nothing like that. Pretty quiet with only minimal dialog with the audience, but seemed appreciative of the crowd and put on a terrific performance. Maybe in part there was some kind of substance abuse earlier in his career.

I recall him performing at a university (late 70's) where he was turned with his back to the audience for nearly the entire show.

But I was aware of his stagefright at that time . . . perhaps others would have misunderstood & been offended.
