I checked the numbers on the Guild website. Looks legit. What should be my upper limit bid on this?

I'd say about a dollar less than mine would be about right

Chicago of course
A search of past auctions shows a high price of $1500...that's too much! This guitar looks like it's in great shape, but $900 would be a reasonable price, IMHO.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
A couple of questions for you:
1. How badly do you want it?
2. What does your budget allow?

I have more but you need to follow your heart and not listen to anyone else.

These are also the mini jumbo sort of size are'nt they ? (as opposed to the 000 shape...)

I don't think so. Aren't all F30's around the same size? My '98 was very close to a 000.

GF,

It's a great looking guitar and I could generate a 9-10 interest level but, likewise, my budget never seems to stay in step with my desire.

Let us know when you get it,

Hello guitardude,

Yes, that's correct. They went from the 000-shape to the kind of 'mini jumbo' shape during the early '70s.

Hello fungus,

Your '98 F-30 was sort of a 'reissue' of the older '60s model and consequently it had the 000-shape again.

Sincerely,

Thanks, Hans! You may have well prevented me from making a big mistake at some point.

So, if I'm a fan of the 000 sized F30, I need to get one from 1970 (or earlier) or one of the reissues from the 90's (which is more likely).

Hey Fungus,

The other thing to bear in mind is that my '70 is as light as a feather, I'd expect the later ones to be a lot heavier constructed (if the later model guilds I've seen are anything to go by...)

Cheers, Ian
