Guild X-500 sound

hey guys,

I've been gigging the last 2 weeks with my 1982 X-500... i just can't get a good sound on rhythm. I play at low volume with a Jazz Trio. I just went back to using my 1967 Guild X-50 (single coil)and it sounds great. could it be the humbuckers on the X-500? i use D'addario Chrome 12's on both guitars. i've tried TI's on the X-500 and hated them ....any thoughts?
