Hey guys -

I own (or have owned) nearly every amplifier in the 1969 Guild amps print ad that's been posted around the internet...however I've never been able to track down a "Seven-Forty-Seven"...has anyone out there every had one, played one or seen one in person? Does anybody know what the specs were??

Educate me. Why do you think such a thing exists? Product literature? Old ads? Catalogs? I seem to recall Guild advertised at least one Quantum Bass model that as far as anyone knows, was never actually produced.

Thanks.

There's a 1969 print ad for Guild amplifiers that lists (and shows) their entire 1969 line:

...shows the Thunderstar, Thunderstar bass, Quantum X, Maverick, Thunderbird, Thunder 1, Thunderbass 1A, Superstar and (at the back) a Seven-Forty-Seven stack.

Hi guys,
That was one of the amps slated to go into production right before Avnet killed the amp line. IIRC, it was supposed to be the highest powered guitar amp Guild ever built, with 100 watts out of a pair of 8417s. It shows up in the literature but it never made it into the wild. :-(

That would explain it...over 20 years of searching for one and never saw a single example! Too bad though, it would've been a nice unit! Must be at least a prototype or two out there since there's a photo ad with one...perhaps I'll keep my eyes open! Thanks for the info!

Well those were the days before Photoshop but the prototype might not have been working. There is an ad with a clear, lucite or plexiglass S-100 and it is pretty clear that then object photographed is not a working guitar.
