Clue: If you produce a video presenting yourself as a 12-string guitar expert, please be sure to actually have 12 strings on the guitar. I'm just sayin'...

Not the first "expertvillage" video that I find completely laughable. There is one on "Chet Atkins style" which displays outstanding ignorance of the way Chet actually played the guitar. "...some people use their fingers...", says the self-proclaimed expert.

Oh... maybe these videos are all in jest and I just missed the joke...? Gotta lighten up, I guess.

That Gibson would suit my friend who plays "eleven of the best 12-bar blues you've ever heard"

Actually the Gibson is very similar to the one Gordon Lightfoot had and used when he wrote many of his great early works... 'cept he actually played it and impressed the heck out of me at the time...Steffan

My first 12 (which was 40 years ago)was a Gib like that, and I used to look like the guy playing it. In Sacramento in the 1960's, the cheapest used pro guitars were Gibsons. For all of my joking around about Gibson flat tops, it's just that my ear doesn't hear them. I heard a new $1,500 Gib dread the other day at Guitar Center, and to me the king has no clothes or voice. But their old mandos, banjos, and electric archtops were the industry standard, and maybe still are. I still compare mandos and banjos to the sound old Gibsons.

Gordon Lightfoot was a real steady rhythm player--the Freddy Green of folk. I used to set up my stereo to try to hear what he was doing.

That's for sure - and still is!

In his early releases with the trio, Gord's percussive playing held down the groove as much as the bass did. :)
