I'm not sure how original that amp is. According to the bible, that amp was transformerless design which makes sense in that parts of New York City were dc wall current. You plug a Fender into dc and you fry the power transformer. From a safety point of view, they are dangerous, since you are relying on a 60 year capacitor to keep wall voltage off the chassis.
This one was probably rebuilt(95% chance, IMHO) somewhere down the way, but I couldn't say definitively without looking at it. He's been asking too much for it.

So much of this stuff ( Aussie builds in Australia are no different ) is more appearance than function , especially considering the voltages around the show. If I buy old but excellent chain saws ( eg '68 Stihl S10 or 08s etc ) , they're still more ornament than truly functional . So , DC out of a wall could still be found in those days ! Good grief .
