A propos of nothing, I have wondered about the way the Guild logo is screened onto this hard shell case from the 1980s. Not particularly aligned in any way I can see, looks like someone just stamped the lid before it went out the door. Anyone else with a case of this vintage? Does the logo have the same orientation?

Maybe I'm just tripping on tryptophan.

I have one case with the logo screened on exactly like that, same position and orientation - four others with the G-shield 4" up from the treble side so that it appears vertical if the case is put down with the handle up, and one (Nightbird) case with the shield in the vertical orientation but 5" up from the treble side. And I think recall that the case for the DV73 (not here) has a logo like the one in your picture.

Wonder if there is yet another secret Guild building code buried in there somewhere?

All get abraded in that position, and all are somewhat worse for wear. It sure seems to be a low-quality way to display the brand on the case, kind of opposite to what one might expect on cases for some pretty good guitars. Ah well, you can't play the case.

Two of my cases have that same Gshield logo, also in the same position. Other cases have the Guild script. I like the Guild shield better, if I have a choice.

The cases with the shield came with the D50 and D35.

Both Guild cases have screened logos that are readable when the case is on its edge, handle up. I have some Guild stickers that actually came from overseas somewhere.
I stuck one on the thin part of one case and another on the back window of my car.
No one has waved at me yet. :(

My 80's case has the weirdly aligned logo as well. I just assumed it was Guilds way of capturing a very specific demographic, namely people who might see you drop your case on it's top.

"Hey look man, that guy just drop his guitar case on it's head. Oh and it's a Guild!"

Thanks for the data, folks. Kind of interesting. I'll try to remember to drop the case headstock end first so folks can see what kind of guitar used to be in there. :|
