The black A150 discontinued, the blonde still available, the black Aristocrat discontinued, the sunburst still available, the black Starfire III discontinued...

You can get a Starfire Jet 90 in black but it's matte and therefore doesn't count

Incidentally, if anyone wants to sell me a black A150

I wonder if it was because the black versions were not selling well enough, or if there were issues with build quality or something else?

Gloss black is a unforgiving finish to apply. Same with cars. I would think it requires more time to get it right.

Supposedly, it takes more coats as well to ensure the finish doesn't show imperfections. I don't have any experience with this personally, but I've been told this from auto body experts multiple times. Therefore, it must be a cost issue.

If it is cost then the exception that proves the rule was that the Newark Street M-85-I bass was only available in black.
