Performed at a ‘function’ for twenty minutes last night (seated in a padded folding chair btw) with my newly acquired ‘70 Guild D-40. Played instrumentals (Pacobel D Canon, JSB Crab Canon, some elevatorized ‘60’s stuff). The D-40 was a champ; I brought a small amp and soundhole mike since the room was covered with about a quarter-acre of smelly blue rug, but my slightly battered D-40, played with no amp and with fingers only, reached all the way to the back. Where has this guitar been all my life? I had a sense, though, that some of the guests might have wondered why I couldn’t afford a more presentable guitar, at least one with a brand name. Still looking for that ‘Guild’ decal.

Wontox

PS: guitar has serial no. 44948 on inside label, same stamped on back headstock. Label inside body has additional number below: 728289. What's the lower number?

And another great D40 story! I'll bet you Coastie could fix you up with something close until you find the real deal...

I see you gave up on the idea of adding syncopated percussion to your guitar play? (or at least decided to go for the "mute mode"....
And hey, some of the best sounding guitars have the worst looks, so no worries there as long as it sounds like a champ!

I don't know man... I had to hurry up and reconnect my gear to post my S-100 on the members music section because you asked, now I have to find packing material for the DV-52..... you're putting a lot of pressure on me man....
Oh! BTW.... Do you have any plan on keeping that F512 any longer?

I was going to tell you to keep your covetous eyes off my F512R......but I was just playing it, and its hard to not feel surrounded by its presence....so easy to play now, and a joy to the senses, looks, sounds and the music flowing thru the instrument literally vibrating into my chest.....wow....these instruments sure don't lose anything with age and experience.......unlike some of us on this forum..   Steffan

Well.... looks like you got it all wrapped up nice and tight, it's always nice to know a transaction will go smoothly with everybody happy.
Joe, let us know when you get it! And should it not meet all of your expectations, send me a PM, I might be able to help. :D

Y'know for a second I thought I was following this thread like any normal person stumbling upon it might.

Now I'm not so sure.

Did member's guitars change hands here?

I'm so confused by the banter it's hard to tell what really is going on...

I only ask because I don't want to find out I've somehow raised my hand at an auction and now must send a guitar to someone.

:?:  :!:

Nobody got sold or given a guitar....the hypnotic suggestion didn't work Joe........ But sometimes wishful thinking makes it so, or so I'm told.... Steffan

October will be GAS month. Something with a "D" in it. I think it may have to be a 25NT, although all this 40 talk is compelling, as is the thought of another 37.

Why some guys are up to 10 guitars and some of us are down to 3...
