Dylan's '64 Strat was the first electric at the Newport Folk Festival, not the Jazz Festival as annotated. Plus, I'm reasonably sure that Muddy Waters used an electric earlier, possibly as early as 1959.

Actually the one that was flamed at Monterey was black.
Trivia note: Frank Zappa eventually acquired it and was on the cover of an issue of Guitar Player with it.
He took all kinds of guff for leaving it un-refinished.
