I'm currently watching at least 30 older Guilds on eBay right now and wondering which bank in town might be the easiest for me to procure or maybe purloin funding for this latest GAS attack!
As the old song says, "I got it bad and that ain't good."

Would that I had about 5K that I didn't need and could just throw out there! Yow-za!

You're killing me here, Ridge. You're just what my GAS counselor said I needed: an accomplice!

It cracks me up to no end to think that the seller feels that mentioning the guitar has Martin strings will add to the value of the item. Don't we usually get rid of the strings these things come with and go for our own favorites? :?

Actually, I just wanted the strings, not the guitar.

Take what's left of your 401k and buy Guilds!

Have you seen the prices going down recently?

You make a good point here!....
I would actually feel safer if my 401k money was invested in vintage Guilds, instead of subjected to the paranoid hysteria of wall street sharks!
...not to mention the enjoyment of a roomfull of Guilds....Hmmmmm!!! 8)

If an ebay Guild add has the word Martin in the add, will it also show up on Martins ebay page?
This would account for the added wording about Martin strings.

I think so, at least if the description is searched in, which is a user checkbox. My searches that are trying to focus on Guild basses often turn up non-Guild basses from dealers who stock Guild guitars because "Guild" and "bass" both show up in the description. Specifying Martin strings would definitely snag more eyeballs unless the searcher had techniques to be considerably more focused.

And "focus" on eBay searches is not always a good thing because people often have typos or don't really describe exactly what they have. So the focused search has the potential to miss bargains.

As evidenced by a current listing for a 'Guild Mark II' which is ovisously an M-20. Sellers sometimes/often don't know what they have in their hands. Might be good for the buyer, however. Hmm.
One current listing seems to focus more on the fact that the strap is 'like new' and overlooks/downplays the guitar underneath it. :?
