Having a GAD 50, I keep an eye on ebay sales of the model. They don't fetch quite as much as they probably should, representing a good buy opportunity on one hand and on the other, a buyer preference for the US models.

However, the GAD 25 sales show them getting a lot of buyer action. I strongly admire a GAD 25 I saw in a music store about a year ago. . . the guitar even gave me that "itch to buy" feeling you can sometimes get. . . but I thought, hey, got a mahogany guitar already and a GAD already. But overall, the GAD 25s seem to get good ebay sales action. Maybe the model's developing a fan base or something.

As an entry level guitar for Guild, I think the GAD series fits the bill. I’ve played a few and really thought you’re getting a good bang for the buck. I will admit that I have a fondness for the Westerly guitars, but would I ever own a GAD? If it spoke to me and said take me home, sure why not.

There are also at times, some great GAD F-20 deals, and some very friendly prices being asked for used GAD F-20's.

Not too long ago, I snared a mintie Ebay F-20 in ITB for our grand-daughter, for US $400. Given the build-quality and sound, a great bargain.

Being a first time Guild owner I have to say my new GAD30RE is an incredeble guitar in both sound and appearance. I've been playing and working the road for over forty years, and have had quite a few guitars over the years. Wish I had this little gem at the beginning of the road!

Welcome to LTG. What non-Guilds have you been using? I'm sure someone will step up with a suggested Guild or two

That's the best endorsement of GAD's I've ever seen. Let's face it, the whole concept is/was nothing new for Guild, just witness the Madeira line.

Near as I can tell GAD = great!. I've had a gad30r for almost a year now, completely smitten. I am no long time music fiend with a finely honed ear, but a friend who is one of the martin tribe that has been playing 30+ years (and he does have excellent musical taste)...he says i won't need to "upgrade" for a long time.

Recently welcomed a westerly to my home...but i want my gad more...it's not as loud and bassy, but it's sweet and full.

Just a beginner myself, but my GAD-F20 happened to be my first acoustic. I think it sounds great, looks great, and just looks damn classy in my eyes.

I like it more each time I play it, also everyone Ive shown it to has loved it including my uncle; a long time singer/guitar player who has long been a member of the Guild,Martin and Taylor camp.

Although I can say as a "noobie" to guilds and looking in at the big picture there seems to be vast differences between opinions, perceptions, facts, whatever you want to call it between the U.S.A. and Chinese made models.

but anyhow, Im perfectly happy so far with my GAD-F20

I just got my first Guild, a GAD 40 (spruce/hog) and it is amazing. I've also got a Tacoma DF-21 (spruce/maple) and a Martin OMCGTE (spruce/cherry). The GAD is a great addition. I may end up making a decision to sell one of the dreads. But of course, I'd be looking to add a small body like the GAD J20!

Three months ago I bought a third-hand (at least) Guild GAD 30RATB (my first Guild) that spent a good part of it's life in a pawn shop, has a K & K amp (aftermarket) installed, has had the nut moved around and has a couple of dings in it and I just think it's a great guitar!
My only objection is that I wish it was cosmetically as sweet, that is to say I wish it looked "mint", as it is sonically and playability-wise...
but in the end don't care too much about that.

I keep looking for a new one to replace this one...but for what little I paid for the one I have it's hard to justify a new version just to get a pretty face. :)
I also own a Taylor 312ce, a Martin OM21 and several other mid-priced "Name" guitars. They've got nothing over my pawn shop Guild!
I love my GAD30R.

What does a GAD 25 go for new? I've been seeing several Westerly D25's for sale lately in the $400- $600 range.

I've only had my GAD25 a few weeks, but it's become one of the guitars I tend to reach more than any other. Admittedly, the guitar is still immature and stiff, but what I hear from it now promises great things from it in the future.

Here's the thing... I know Sweetwater and other places have good prices, probably less than the $599 advertised price and on a day to day basis, they are probably the best prices available. In my case, I got a return that was sold in like new condition from Musician's Friend. It cost me less than $400 delivered and I can't find a mark on it. I can only presume whomever originally received this guitar simply didn't like it for whatever their reason may have been. I consider it one of the best values I ever got in a new guitar.

I have a Gad 25 and am very happy with it....I like it's understated not in your face top end combined with a nice deep tone...great for fingerpicking and strumming and records very well with not much fuss. It is not a D50, a Taylor or a martin and certainly not a JF30...but for me it is uniquely likeable and easy to play.
