The first testicular guard "Cup" was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first full-time helmet was used in 1974....

That means it took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.

I don't remember the year, I'm guessing mid 1970's, but I was at the last game played by Pittsburgh Penguin goalie, Andy Brown, who was the last goalie to play without a mask. So I saw the last NHL hockey game in which a goalie played without a mask.

I'm showing my age, but hockey was SO much better with no helmets. I was a big fan of the Big Bad Bruins - no comparison today.
