Fret wire size on a '96 X170?

The first three frets are deeply rutted while the others to the seventh are partially so. I may take it in and have at least the first five replaced. So what is the size of the fretwire? Anything I should be aware of or ask before I have this done and what is the going rate of a fret job? I'm kinda nervous about having this done but I'm afraid its time. Thanks

Partial re-frets are OK but I would have your luthier look at the whole board and give his/her opinion as to whether it might just be as well to have the whole board done. As the wear seems to be localised it may be ok to have just a few frets done if the wire can be matched but there may be issues with the other frets or the board itself you can't see. It is just as quick to do a whole board and level it than try to blend a few frets into a existing set up.
When there is severe rutting the board may have some wear in the same area. If you trust your luthier get their opinion.Don't know what the cost may be in the USA.
