I have one, and did some research, there are two different cut-aways on them, so make sure the one you are seeing has the one you want. Mine has laminate sides and solid back. Some have solid sides and solid back, so if this is important to you, make sure you ask. You can tell laminate sides by looking through the electronics trap door. Check action, how much saddle is left, and whether the neck is twisted or not. This will tell you if it is ripe for a neck reset or not. Maple is sometimes hard on high notes as it has a damping effect sonically, which is great plugged in, but may adversely affect the acoustic sound. Good luck in the hunt.

I like several features my F47mce;
* fret access (of course)
* huge crispy response from the maple
* it amplifies easily with a very natural sound
(not bearly as much feedback as I usually experience with my rosewoods)
* it's gorgeous!

This is only one guy's opinion, but the maple does not seem to have the bass response that mahogany or rosewood do for pure acoustic playing, but as soon as I plug it in, maple is my favorite.

The other guys have it right: go play it for a while!
Best of luck.

Oh good, an excuse for show and tell! While not the cutaway, F-47M just the same.

This an all solid wood, Adi top, maple B&S with D-TAR electronics. I would not describe the character of mine as bright or crispy or lacking bottom end as is most of the stereotypical traits of maple B&S. I'm amazed at how full and rich the sound is though the low and mids and upper end clarity that you don't often find. It's definitely louder than most. The deep and tight low end is one of the things that really surprised me and was not really expecting it. A couple things probably factor into that; one, the 16in lower bout, which is dreadnought sized, and the fact that I usually use DR Rare .12-.56 strings. I would describe the tonal character as clean, having much note separation, shorter decay than say a Rosewood B&S. If you're looking for a dreamy wash of blurred notes that sustain forever, maple generally isn't going to be that. Plus, just look at it! Every time I get discouraged about my playing ability, I just gaze into the flames and imagine I really can play well.

Yeeowza that's beautiful!

I almost pulled the trigger on an Art&Lutherie cedar Folk covered in black finish today.

It was cheap, but I'm kinda glad I didn't...
