Here are some pics of my '71 F30R. The F30R showed up in the catalog in '73 so this is either part of a limited run or a special order. It is light and loud and resonates beautifully. I'm not the best photographer but I hope you enjoy the pics!!

Beautiful guitar, the F30 has been on my radar lately, near the top of the list.

That is lovely, let me know when you want to sell it.

I was thinking about listing it for $350 shipped next April 1

Seriously, I hope I never have to sell it. This was a rescue project. When I got it the neck was separating from the body and the back had a gaping crack that had been superglued. Whoever did the superglue job messed up the label so now there is only half a label. I had a good luthier reset the neck and scrape out all the superglue and repair the back crack the right way. He also did some minor fretwork. It has plenty of "mojo" but for the way it sounds I would hang onto it even if it was red white and blue and signed by the charter members of the Buck Owens fan club!

Hey I hope you never have to sell it either, looks a beauty. What does the label say BTW. Mine is a 1970 that has Hoboken on the label, but Hans says that at this time they were made in Westerly using up the last of the old labels.

Interestingly enough the rosewood back on yours looks to be identical to the piece of Brazillian that I chose for my Davy Stuart over here. Had a lovely spicy taste to it, almost like cinnamon....

Mine has the "Guild Guitars Inc." label (doesn't mention Westerly or Hoboken). Of couse, it's a Westerly.

I'm no wood expert and '71 is a little late for Braz but I have wondered about it. Some folks have looked and thought EI and some folks have looked and thought Braz.

buzz,
Your photos help me to understand why GAS is so prevalent in these ranks, and it just so happens that an F30 is also on my own short list of GTG (Guilds To Get)! :D

Thanks for the porn and thanks for keeping the GAS rolling.
Photos possess magic in the feelings they evoke, and these are no exception.

Cheers,
Joe

Wasn't there one on eBay a while back?

Thanks for the pics. It is interesting how "curvy" it appears compared to the usual dreads and jumbos. I've been looking at a lot of F-30 photos but yours brought that out for me.

Sweet :D :!: :D
I love these "rescue" stories. Very cool to take the time and spend the $$ to keep these old Guilds singing away. Nicely done.

Buzz, did you know they did a limited 20-count GSR F-30R this year? We saw it at LMG2010, and geoguy here recently bought one... No question, the F-30R old and new is truly lust-worthy! :) Very nice!

I didn't know that. I bet that is one sweet guitar (or should I say 20 sweet guitars)!!!

The one we saw at LMG had everyone salivating. I think frono's +1 was ready to trade him in for the guitar! :) :)

Actually she really preferred the understated appearance of the "plain" F-30 and the tortoise shell binding but she found out she would still have to add cash to the deal if she traded for me.

Forgive me for being potentially political but I am reminded of a joke...

President Bill Clinton walks down the ramp of Air Force One after a trip to Arkansas with a razorback piglet under each arm. The Marine guard at the foot to the ramp says:

"Nice pigs, sir."
"Thank you. I got them for Hillary and Chelsea", the President replied.
"Good trade, sir"

Yes I did, but at $3300 USD it was a little bit more than I had left in my piggy bank at the time. They looked real nice though, anyone here get one ?

I'd like a very "minty" F30R from the late 90's-or '00/'01. Y'all keep an eye out for me. Beautiful little guitar.
