When did Guild change the F-50 neck from maple to mahogany? 1980s, 90s?

My F50R has a three piece Paduak and Walnut neck purchased new March 75. Nitro is perfect.

You're definitely one of the lucky ones (plus your F50R is amazing too!).
Guild stopped using Padouk b/c of its oily nature and its tendency to cause nitro to flake off.

Padouk is being used in the GAD line, but that's b/c of the GAD-series having a poly finish and not nitro.

How's that F-50R hanging, Spectrum? Breaking it in since its visit to Nashville last year?

Hello Jamie,

There were several changes in neck construction over the years but because of the way you formulated the question I'm assuming that you were referring to the changes on the F-50 and not the changes on the F-50R. That excludes the Padouk necks since those were used on F-50Rs.
After the model designation was changed from F-50 to JF-65 during the second half of the '80s, the JF-65 still had a 3-pc. maple neck with a mahogany centerstrip up till about the year 2000 after which the neck was constructed from mahogany with a maple centerstrip.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Sincerely,

Jazz,

Putting some strings on her today and going a little lighter to 12s.

True she does not get much playtime with all my electrics and amps but by now most of the glue has dried and plays broken in.
