Those words may be even more lovely to hear than the guitar you are bringing with you.

Pretty guitar, comfortable shape (Grand Auditorium), tasteful appointments (fingerboard inlay, rosette, arm bevel) - Congratulations! Do you have any back story on your new guitar?

I had to laugh. Never would I have imagined my wife would be encouraging me to buy a guitar and I refused. But in the end, I came around.

Last month while my wife and I were in Saigon for other reasons, I made arrangements to pick up a hardshell case from the luthier who made the guitar I started this thread about. While at his shop I saw this beautiful Koa wood guitar. My wife thought it was too pretty not to buy. I didn't really want it as I have my Guild GF60 back home and I just bought the rosewood acoustic to leave here in Vietnam. but after we'd left Saigon, my wife kept reminding me about the beautiful guitar we saw and wanted me to be sure I didn't want it. Well, I gave in. We wire-transferred the money to the luthier and he shipped it to my wife's village where we are staying.

The guitar cost $680 which included the hardshell case and shipping. That's a king's ransom for a guitar in Vietnan, but you can imagine what a comparable handmade guitar would cost in the States.
