Working at my desk, paying monthly bills. This little girl just brightened up my afternoon.:)

I love the inset window showing her bass drum skills. Great post!

As you can see, Gadd's drum approach to this song, makes the song, IMHO of course:

Bonham had been known to add a kicker to his bass drum, tho I can't find a picture of it, green sparkle I think it was.

Something like this.

What do you make when someone hands you a canon?

Canonade ;[]

Nah, Bonham never did that. He briefly played a double kick in late 68, and he played those odd scoop horn style North drums on Paul McCartney's Rockestra, but during his entire time w/ Zep from 69 until his death in Sept 80, he played the same sized/style Ludwig kit. First maple, then green sparkle, then vistalite, then chrome.

The ultimate kicker needed no kicker!! 😉

Ward and Butler never got the recognition they deserved, never will, and like Bonham, incidentally the premier drummer of the era, he's [Ward] quite funky.

If only the cameraman had thought to put the camera on him when needed.

The whole band is funky by the second song, odd juxtaposition, genius.

Still, mindblowingly good audio/video.

Any drum experts in the house?

I just realized after a few days of fiddling with set for better playing, I play the ride with my left hand (I'm left handed but play guitar and shoot righty) and play the bass drum with my right foot.

Is this abnormal, not that I can change it, I played a lefty kit a bit, and definitely have a stronger right foot (from unlimited Bonzo doubles to machine gun 16th notes), I can't switch.

how bad is this, how good is this?

Interesting mix of left-handed-right-footer 😂

I'm right-handed - but I play drums left-handed and -footed. W most tools I'm ambidextrous.

My present drum set - once made for the kid in the house - therefore small - but he has lost interest.

BD 20x14 - Premier - pre 1967
SN 10x5 Tama
Bongos - Premier - pre 1967
Tom 8x8 - Sonor
Tom 10x9 - Sonor

Since these pictures I have managed to get pre-1967 Premier Flushbase Hi-Hat and cymbal stands. 🥁

I'm definitively no expert on anything - but since there are nifty pedals for playing single BD w two pedals - how about getting one of those - having entire set lefty - leaving the Hi-Hat top clutch open so it is in closed position ?

And if there's a song w simple BD-pattern that you can "handle" w left foot ( or should it be "foodle" ? ) - you can use Hi-Hat the normal way.

I tried a double pedal a few years ago, but responded like Bonham "so much noise I can't hear myself think", prefer the Bonzo double method in the end I've been playing like this for so long I'm sticking to it ;[] I'm analyzing what I'm doing and realizing that I don't lead with my right hand, which makes it a little awkward on a right handed kit, but lo and behold, when I lead rolls with right hand, I cop that same Ringo time lapse that proves that overcoming an obstacle becomes a style.
