Hi Guild aficionados,

I was wondering. I own a NS Starfire III which I'm very happy with. Recently I bought myself a '65 T100d with Mickey Mouse pups (see earlier topic "New member"). A totally different animal tonewise.

For now I did 2 band-practices with the T100d and I am quite pleased with the clean, warm tones. It lacks a bit of balls though compared to the Starfire in heavier songs. Also feedback on the T100d is an uncontrollable low hum in the wrong tone while the Starfire really can sing in the right tone. We play Country/pop/rock in which I use a lot of feedback accents in my solo's.

I was assuming the construction on both guitars would be somewhat the same so what is causing the difference in the feedback? Is it the wooden bridge on the T100d vs compton bridge on my SF? Is it the Mickey Mouse pickups vs the mini-humbuckers? Or maybe a different bracing after all?

I was thinking about experimenting with the compton bridge on the T100d but it feels slightly like disgracing my lovely old T100d, although it's an easy returnable change.

I'm curious about your thoughts, and also, if anybody up here have ever put a Compton or Tru-arc bridge on a T100d before.

Cheers,
Michiel

Well, let me point out that wooden bridges and vibratos aren't normally found together. They aren't set up to rock with the strings, so I would go with a metal bridge anyway.
