Hi All,

I am about to pull the trigger on buying the x-170 orange currently on reverb. I cannot figure the vintage however and the 'datingyourguild' chart on guilds website does no include this serial number..

Does anyone know how to get a vintage off of it?

Thanks

The serial number looks to be some time after the chart cuts off in 1997. Hans would know for sure, but it's definitely after 1997, and before the plant closed in 2000. Those were the best Westerly years, in my opinion.

If it’s a MARS with two switches then they only made them for a year or so.

Additionally, if it's a Mars special run X170(T) it will have Fender Humbuckers. That's not a deal breaker but something to know. The extra switch taps out one of each HB coil so you can get single coil tone.
Probably my only complaint is that the coil tap is both or none. After playing around with the Guild Starfire1 SC and DC I really like having the option of selecting which pickup is tapped.
BTW ... IMO the X170 is one of the best and most fun guitar to play. The size, the body depth, the beauty and the brace under the bridge yields a guitar that resistant to feedback and is great for all types of music.
