Hi

New here. I bought a D52NT back in 86 from the Westerly factory; serial number EK100077.

I've looked at the serial numbers posted in various places (all seem to come from the same original file). The problem is the serial number of my guitar is higher than any shown.

How bad were the records? Did Guild make D52s after 84? When the guy brought it out to me (I think he brought out my NT and a tobacco faced one) my recollection of the way he spoke, it seemed they were still making them.

Anybody know what the deal is?

Maybe what it might be worth? Except for very minor pick scratching it is in perfect condition. It is not for sale, just wondering.

Thanks in advance.

I think that model had a limited run in the '80's. No surprise about your experience with the serial number list. Send a private message to hansmoust (the expert) and he'll tell you everything you want to know. Or wait a bit and he may show up.

Welcome!

Some of us have nothing better to do with our time.

I'm not one of the acoustic experts, so others will be along with more info.

Now, if you ever wanna talk about S-100's...

I may have better things to do but this is more fun. Besides, "better" is a relative term.

BTW, nice looking guitars.

Mudney,
Welcome to the board. It's a fun group. Hope you stick around for a while, or longer.

I've been following the DV-52's on eBay for about 6 months (someday I'd like to buy one). Depending on the condition they seem to have been going from $800 upwards to about $1200. People have said that these guitars are undervalued these days.

In the time I've been watching, I don't remember seeing a D52 ...

Thanks for the input. I didn't know about the DV variant of the D52 until I started looking at the published serial numbers; the main visual difference that I see is the 'bling' around the sound hole on the DVs. But I havent seen one in person (cant remember when I've been in a guitar store except to score strings in a long, long time. (May have to change that, now.)

I remember when I bought the guitar that the guy in Westerly who brought it out "from the back" that he'd said the D52 was a D50 with scaloped bridging, and that the D50 was same as the D55 minus the bling.

What I know for sure is that I like my D52.

May a DV come into your hands sooner than later.

Regards
