I am new to the forum and by way of introduction, I am sharing some pics. Also, a question, if I might. What does the unintelligible (to me) script after the "SB" mean? Note that she is a factory second. The nut broke at the high e. I superglued it, but it buzzes and needs replacement. Otherwise, she is a warbler extraordinaire! Cheers, Dave

Nice lookin' guitar, might not be a 2nd, Westerly didn't tend to do that. and if they did their idea of 2nd would still set the bar above most other 1sts. The buzz might just be an adjustment or a fret dress...it'll be worth it to you.... SB stands for sun burst, which is the finish you have, there are at least 1 persons here that really like SB. This guy Treem doesn't order his eggs sunny side up ...he'll ask for a couple of sunbursts...   Steffan

That is a beautiful sunbirst that you have. Our local guitar shop just got 2 new guitars in with the exact same dark burst: Gibson J35 and Gibson J45. I certainly appreciate the look of these, and they look great hanging on disply side by side. Maybe someday I will own one...

Well ... that sure looks like it says 'Factory Second'. Isn't that intended as 'Sunburst ... Antique' instead of the more recent 'ASB'?

+1

Don't recall that Westerly Guilds ever had something on the label indicating factory second although that could be my memory, as opposed to a claim that it never happened.

I seem to recall various terms used to describe which colors were in a "sunburst" and I am thinking Antique means there is little or no yellow.

Antique, yes, that must be it. The color is a dark burgundy, not yellow at all. Looks and play beautiful. She is stamped “factory second” in red on the label, but I have never noticed any defect, other than the matching light spots on the top, which I assume was where the wood was such that the stain did not absorb as well. The neck is nice and chunky. She definitely needs a new nut and is basically unplayable without it. Glad to be aboard. Thanks and Happy Friday, Dave
