Could anyone with D40's let me know what their scale lengths are? My '99's scale length is 25 3/4" and I didn't keep track of the '76. Thanks

Hi Pike, you sure that ain't the 25-5/8" which was pretty much on all the D's and is what's listed on mine?

No, it's definitly 25 3/4" from the center of the saddle to the center of the nut. So is the '98 D55. The D66 is 25 5/8 though.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I am not sure that is the most accurate way to measure the scale length. The method I have read/heard in a couple places/websites is to measure the distance from the lip (bridge side) of the nut to the crown of the 12th fret, and then multiply that distance by two. One site I read indicated that the saddle would be set slightly longer than this distance "to compensate for the height of the strings." This method also accounts for the slanted saddle.
