Got the D-60 out of the case. Cleaned her up, put on new strings. Damn this guitar is terrific. Great sparkly highs and a nice low end rumble. Loves to be pushed a bit. Dig the pick in a bit and she just comes to life, but it still sounds great played with a more gentle touch.

And just because, here's a pic.

Apparently Evenkeel has so darned many fine guitars, this is the lesser of them all. Probably stuck her back and forgot about her.....must be nice. Just kidding ya Even.

You guys are so transparent that if you were to be playing this guitar it would look like it was suspended in mid air.....  Steffan

Winters in Fla.. Spring thru early fall, we work in Annapolis. We drive a Prius, so space is a bit limited. Next spring I think the D-60 may make her first trip north. To good a guitar to sit in a case.

Is this one of the walker/gruhn designed Guilds? How does it compare tone wise to a D55?
Yes it is a Gruhn/Walker design. I've never A/B'd to a D-55. What I can tell you is this is a terrific spruce/rosewood dread. Certainly one of the very best I've ever played.

What kind of strings did you put on her?
80/20 12's. I used to use phos bronze. Always thought 80/20's seemed a bit to bright, kind of harsh sounding. When I bought the D-60 the previous owner included a new set of Martin 80/20's. So I gave 'em a whirl and loved the sound. Gave the guitar a bit more top end sparkle w/o the harshness I'd heard in the past.

I'm a bit of a heathen re: brand of strings. I just don't hear a lot of difference. Elixir's being an exception. Not fan of coated, although friends who use 'em love 'em and there guitars sound great. So obviously it's just me.
