Was that Bluesbird delivered like this from the factory? It got P90ies in black, a black switch tip and a bound Bluesbird neck with large inlays. It also looks like it is white on the back of the neck and body.

A shop in Santiago de Compostela/Spain has it: http://www.estudio-54.com/?q=node/760

Wow !

I shouldn't like that, but I do. Somehow that paint job manages to suit the guitar. Pity about the blue surrounding the flames though.
Legitimate cutom auto paint type detail to help give a really crisp edge and also define the overlapped "tongues" of flame. The contrast isn't so apparent to the eye from a distance, like the "full body" pic.
Funny, but I like it too. It looks absolutely "factory done" in the photos, although the color scheme on the paint is a more modern palette "style". I don't think they would have used the blue pinstripe edge if they were tying to be "au courant" at the time of Bluesbird production..

I checked with the shop in Spain. This is the answer I got, I post it in original Spanish, so if people know Spanish they can read the original:

"HOLA GRACIAS POR LA PREGUNTA LA GUITARRA EL NUMERO DE SERIE ES EL OO3 ES UNA EDICION LIMITADA DE 12 UNIDADES CADA UNA PINTADA DE FORMA DIFERENTE ESTA CORRESPOENDE AL MES DE FEBRERO POR ESO ES LA 003 DE 12 UNIDADES LA GUITARRA ES UNA EDICION LIMITADA DE LA FERIA DE LA NAMM DEL AÑO 2002 PINTADA POR DRL ESTA FABRICADA EN CORONA CALIFORNIA EL PRECIO 2600.00 EUROS CON SU ESTUCHE Y ALMANAQUE DONDE SALE LA FOTO DE LA GUITARRA GRACIAS DE QUE PAIS ERES NOSOTROS ENVIAMOS MATERIAL A TODO EUROPA Y USA "

So basically what I understand is that it is serial number 003 of a limited series of 12, made for the NAMM show 2002. The guitar was made in Corona.
Each of the 12 had a different paint job. He also wrote it was painted by DRL ( http://drlgrafx.com ), so not painted by Guild.
…He is asking Euro 2600.

EDIT: I also found out, that this guitar was commissioned through Fender's custom shop. They use DRL Graphics when they have projects that need graphic work.

I am not a fan of flames on guitars, but that one seriously kicks ass! Wow!

There were obviously 12 in different colors if I can believe that shop.
Hans has seem some of them, he had shown me another one in darker grey with black flames. Pretty funky stuff!

I know that is a bit of a veer, but the following must be the ugliest Bluesbird (or whatever it is) that the custom shop in Nashville ever did. (Not to talk about the added Gibson TRC and Gibson knobs.) But that headstock on a Bluesbird? Also the neck is more like a Blues 90 neck, no binding and just dot inlays.

Premier Guitar showed it and said it was made for a John Mitchell in 1999. I guess it is the John Mitchell of UK band It Bites.

"I think it looks cool, not for me though. "

I agree... if it was plain white, I'd be very interested, but the flames, although nicely done, aren't my style. Too pricey as well.

Count me out as well.... must be more of an old fart than most of y'all, but these graphics on a guitar are a turn off to me.
Nice quality paint job tho.

Y'know, I'll betcha 20 "I toldja so's" that in about a uyear, after the thrill of a Daphne Blue Guitar wears off, you're gonna be sayin' "Y'know, I get it now, I shoulda jumped on it while I had the chance".
What makes it work is that the flames rise from the lower bout to the upper. If it was the other way 'round it'd just be gauche.

How can I have possibly neglected to take this detail into consideration before expressing an opinion.....
Now I get it.
Great looking guitar!

Maybe you could compensate with some chome yellow flames on the Citroen (with magenta edge pinstripes). Front fenders only, you want to keep it subtle.

That's gorgeous and well executed. I would adapt "My Style" and incorporate that guitar in an instant

in my mind, the hot rod thing fits more with Fender and Gretsch, not really Guild. Guild to me is more of either a "classy" or "folksy" kind of feel. Hence, oaks and acorns and such, versus fire breathing flames. Kind of like painting stripes on a cheetah, if you ask me.
