Been looking at a few F47's of various models & from RI as well as Corona. I've found threads here in which the Corona F47's are highly praised, AND threads in which Coronas in general are low-talked. At the risk of asking a stupid question (it wouldn't be my 1st): has any "consensus" developed among Guildheads about the Coronas, in particular the F47's? Or is the community basically split into 2 warring camps?

While I'm not sure there are warring factions or whatnot  , my stance is that Corona was very varied in quality control.

I know there have been some great guitars that came out of there, but there also seems to be quite a few that didn't quite live up to Westerly standards.

In my eyes, its a little more 'luck of the draw' with Coronas than with other Guilds.

I agree with that statement.

More finish flaws, it seems, than other build sites let loose. I have owned two Corona's and sound wise they were Guild.

I can only speak of my own experiences.., my 2002 Corona built D55, was and still is a great guitar in every way.
It has no finish defects. It has no quality issues in it's construction. It plays like a dream. It has a voice of an Angel.
I paid less
It is a Guild, to be played..often!
Dale.

Second that on my D40, which I still have.. It does seem the earlier instruments had better QC.
