Frequency is not a multiplier. It a measure of something over a period of time.

Fair enough, but our definitions aren't mutually exclusive. The "multiplier" analogy was the more appropriate one to illustrate my point.
Lemme pull out the big gun and mention that the only guy who agreed with me is also the only one I consider truly qualified to evaluate the validity of my contention, re "improper usage"; he holds a professional teaching credential and is in fact employed at an institution of higher learning due to his credentials.
Granted he doesn't teach "grammar" per se, nonetheless he vets student essays for clarity of expression.
