I am about to buy a guild D240 for my son but it does not come with a case. I think it is an arch back. Will it fit in most dreadnought cases or does it have to have a guild case?
IE, does the arch make it thicker than most dreadnought guitars ?
Thanks

Well, you could get the Guild polyfoam case for a dreadnought, which would certainly fit. But frankly, I don't think the arch in the Guild archbacks is that significant so as to make the D240 not fit into a regular dreadnought hardshell case. Hopefully a more knowledgeable Guildian will be along to confirm what I simply expect to be true without personally testing or experimenting.....

I was not able to put mine in a TKL case - too deep.
Interesting, in Westerly the same case was used for flatbacks and arched backs, so I would have said "yeah it should fit". Doesn't increase depth by more than about 3/4"-7/8" judging by my Mark I Human Eyeball.

It now occurs to me that Guild may have specified a case depth that would be sure to accommodate the archbacks when using TKL.
Seems I heard somebody else mention the same problem a few years back, unless that was you...but I think it was a new member at the time.
Oh, 2017 join date? Maybe it was you:)

It may well have been me. The TKL case I mentioned above was not Guild-branded case - I just answered so the OP would know it's not a universal fit.

If you have a good used dealer near by you can probably go try a few out and pick up a used (condition tbd) for $80 ish. That’s what I didn’t with my parlor guitar from the 20s that came without a case. Ended up with an Ibanez case. It works.
