I found the attached video on on old disc. This is Carlo Greco, in his shop on 48th St, NYC. I thought folks would like to see the great man himself. I took this with my Palm Pilot!

My brother and I came to leave a guitar for repair in May of 2005: 1954 Guild X-660 that I think I have recounted the story of here before. See attached photo.
Carlo personally confirmed that this guitar was previously owned by legendary "plectrum" player Carl Kress.

As I recall, in this short vid, Carlo is looking through some papers to confirm that he had a copy of the original circuit diagram for this guitar. When I bought it it was missing the middle Franz pickup, and someone had set it up with a 3 position toggle switch where the master volume control should be. I trolled eBay for some years till I found a replacement pickup. I also needed one of the gold knobs, in order to have the master volume back. I looked for that for ages as well. The little plastic box to his right has the knob I found and paid something like $50 for. He looked at it and said, "hmm, I may have a better one..." turned around and went into those shelves behind him and came up with drawer with about 10 of them! <sigh>

Have to say, Carlo actually didn't do a great job on this repair. I think he was failing at the time, and the binding work he did was not good. I have subsequently had it all redone by Brothers Music Shop and Guitar Repair in Wind Gap, PA. The results speak for themselves. I feel privileged to own and play this guitar.

Glad I got to meet Carlo at Alex Music before he retired. A truly remarkable man.
